Re X and Y: a trek through a thorn forest – Article published in Family Law

Natalie has co-written an article with Lucy Theis QC for Family Law about the leading surrogacy case of Re X and Y (2008), the UK’s first parental order to be granted following an international commercial surrogacy arrangement, and in which NGA represented the parents, instructing Lucy Theis QC as counsel. The article looks at what happened in the case, how the court was able to authorise payments of more than reasonable expenses, and what the case will mean going forward for other UK parents accessing surrogacy overseas.
