Assisted reproduction

We are the UK’s first fertility law firm and have years of experience working with individuals navigating assisted reproduction law, including posthumous conception and the use, storage and import/export of eggs, sperm and embryos.  Never afraid to push boundaries, we have successfully represented clients in leading cases on posthumous conception and embryo storage and we have won progressive changes to the law.

We can advise you on your legal rights, and facilitate discussions with your fertility clinic, the HFEA or the other person involved in your treatment to clarify or resolve the legal position.

How we help with assisted reproduction law

We work with individuals accessing fertility treatment, and can advise you on a range of legal issues, including:

  • Posthumous conception (where a surviving partner or parent wants to use eggs, sperm or embryos of someone who has died)
  • Disputes in relation to stored embryos, eggs or sperm
  • Rights in relation to importing and exporting gametes and embryos
  • Storage periods for eggs, sperm and embryos.

In some cases, it is necessary to make a court application, which may be an application for judicial review to challenge a fertility clinic or HFEA decision, or an application to the family court to clarify the law or resolve a dispute between individuals.

We provide high quality legal representation services in these complex and sensitive cases, and our advice and representation is usually charged on an hourly rate basis (with clear estimates of cost given).

"Thanks to you my daughter has a chance of a "full" brother or sister. You are amazing and I am sure many of your clients feel the way I do and are eternally grateful...I am thrilled - it would never have happened without you."
