British Infertility Association (BICA) training – the law for transgender fertility patients

April 8, 2021

We were delighted to give some training to infertility counsellors with the British Infertility Counselling Association last week about the law on parenthood and fertility for transgender patients. Invited by BICA to address their regular training seminar, NGA solicitor Jade was delighted to support counsellors who so clearly want to give quality support to the growing numbers of trans men and women seeking fertility treatment to preserve their fertility or conceive children. We spoke about the law, as well as good professional practice when working with modern families, including terminology, key issues to consider and good client care.

At NGA Law, we work with many trans clients and are prominent supporters of Gender Recognition Act reform, given the clear need for a more modern process of self-determination for changing birth certificates, and updated law on parental titles for trans parent who conceive children after transitioning.
